Fire fighting Aircraft used in burning forest areas to discharge large amounts of water or fire fighting foam on the fire that can also work in conjunction with firefighting planes or firefighting boats in emergencies Aerial firefighting with large aircraft or water bombers, prevents the spread of fire and stops fires, creating a line that facilitates containment and extinction These fire fighting planes carry large amounts of water or fire retardant and there are also seaplanes that load their water tanks in lakes close to the fires Firefighting airplanes facilitate the work of firefighters and increase their safety by preventing them from being surrounded by fire, saving lives and large areas of land full of animals and trees.
If there is lake or river near the fire, the CL-415 or his ancestor CL-215 (piston radial engine instead of a turbine) can pour a lot more water in a 8 hr shift with his ability to scoop 6 000 liters of water in few seconds than all the others you mentioned. Should be ranked #1
The Bombardier was the only plane designed to fight forest fires, all the other planes were retrofitted. Putting the Bombardier at 9 is B.S.
I was working as an elite wildland firefighter in BC Canada in the 90s, while on an active fire I had the MARS Drop many times on it. Saved our asses. Its mothballed now and not really active. The Bombardier CL-415 is my top pick for fire suppression for sure.
About the B747 SuperTanker I've found this on Wikipedia:
In 2021, Global SuperTanker Services began facing financial difficulties, and in April 2021, the company shut down. They sold the Supertanker to National Freight to be converted into a cargo aircraft.
I think those huge sky monsters needed a lot of money to fly, a lot of maintenance costs and fly practice for the air men.
The Bombardier 415 is a next generation version of the Canadair CL-215, which came into service around 1969. Over 130 of the CL-215's were built, and many are still in service. The Turboprop CL-215T was a turboprop conversion of the CL-215. The CL-415 was a major redesign of the original fire-fighting aircraft, and both the -215 and -415 are in service with numerous countries around the world. Including Canada, where it was conceived, designed and is still built.
If I had a serious fire situation, I would be getting the 3 amphibious units, and they would be #1, #2, #3 on any list of smart people, as they can reload far faster than any lumbering land based aircraft.. The Martin Mars is now mothballed and will probably not be used as much because it takes huge logistics to get it ready plus the need for a much larger body of water. So the CL 415 & BE 200ES are your true choice to 1st or 2nd .. The CL- 415 is the best as it has more countries using it and has a faster load and dump that even the larger planes cannot compete with.. The S64 Skycrane is good but takes longer to load and has a smaller capacity yet is far better in tighter mountain scenarios and has even been contracted her in British Columbia via Erickson Skycrane .. I have watched several in action during the BC fires a few years back.. Plus did my share of being a ground fighter..
