Stain Shading a Flower Design with Wood Stain

Stain Shading a Flower Design with Wood Stain

I found this 1980's Lane end table on the curb and decided it would be great to practice some stain shading on.

After the top is stripped and prepped for stain, I drew a simple flower design in pencil (yes, you can erase!), then started from the middle and worked my way out, using my finger in a rag dipped in Minwax Dark Walnut oil based wood stain to complete the design. Top coated with several coats of semi-gloss water based polyurethane. Ready to be taped off tomorrow!

Part 2 will be the base and doors getting painted and the reveal of the final piece.
