I show you the 3 different mass personnel transport vehicles in this vlog. This is how they move the larger amounts or people to and from the airfield out on the ice shelf. There are two airfield in the summer and 1 in the winter. Phoenix (Summer and Winter) and Williams Field (Summer ONLY)
The one important thing he didn't mention , is that they use them to transport all the Flat Earth folks to the ice wall that holds all the oceans from spilling over the edge. We would take the Delta from Willy Field (where I lived) past Scott Base and into Mac Town. Pick up more pax and out to the Ice runway (where I worked). It was a long slow ride. When I was there in the early 90s, the Delta was named after the driver. The front end looks just like the CAT 740 B I used to operate but the back end looks just like a modified water truck. Pretty Awesome. Biggest truck I have operated so far was a 400 ton leibherr. But it wasn't in Antarctica! Glad I found your videos. This is my dream job! Thanks for sharing! In the 62/63 summer season VX-6 Navy Air Development Squadron Six used to name the Aircraft: C-130, (City of Christchurch) CD-130 (City of Invegigal), C-121 Connie (Phoenix) the Pegasus- C-47s- Devine Wind, the Slow Tortoise, the Galloping Goose, Got Youse. It was nice on the Ice but it was peachy in Chi-chi: Christchurch New Zealand. The ladies were great! Interesting. Kress makes several different types of super heavy duty machines for handling slag pots and steel slabs in the steel mills. A stack of steel slabs that would be rolled into steel coils would weigh in the 300,000 to 450,000 lbs. range. Runs on JP8. That's funny. Okay. I have my CDL B and a little bit of off-road bus driving experience in Alaska. I'm really interested in driving in Antarctica. Any idea how the current drivers got in Do they have to hold a CDL A Any advice or contacts from anyone would be amazing! Thank you friends.
