!!Caterpillar D8 VS 20 Toyota's!!

A great event that took place in Geilenkirchen, Germany. To bad the Caterpillar had a wrong gear!

Even with that old dozer if the grousers on the tracks weren't almost worn completely off it might have been a different story.  Poor old dozer. Get a D11 and let's see who wins.
That looks like an old 2U D8. My dad had one just like it. 30s vintage. But let's give her a fighting chance, hook to the draw bar like it was designed. Not the blade which was designed to push. Also that was about the lightest D8 on the books. Or better yet, hook it to the logging winch.
In the end it comes down to traction. You can have as much power as you like but the surface area 80 tyres gripping the ground each with about 250kg of weight on each is just more than the grip of 2 tracks with 6000 odd kg on each track
It gives the trucks the advantage because they are pulling at a much lower center of gravity giving them far superior traction! Where as the dozer is pulling at such a high point hes getting minimal traction and getting lifted so hes not able to gain full traction.  Id lile to see this again with equal rigging!
Most likely the general concept is the fuel pump in the D8 would just keep supplying more and more fuel, provided you stopped the engine from destroying itself it would pull all the cars, now lets try this with a D11T and refuse tracks, it would pull 20 dakar trucks!
