Plans / Template For The Wooden Sword:

My boy recently broke his favorite sword. I fixed it with CA glue, and then he broke it again in a different spot. I figured it was time to make him a sword that would last a lifetime. Maybe even one he could pass onto his own son one day. So it's time to make him a wooden sword.

This sword is made out of maple and walnut. The pommel (The skull crusher thing at the base.) and the cross guard (The piece that protects your hand in battle.) are both made out of black walnut scraps I had lying around. And the blade and grip are made out of one continuous piece of maple. The cross guard has a through mortise that allows it to slip over the grip and up to the shoulders at the base of the blade. And the pommel has a mortise in it to accept the base of the grip. There aren't any shoulders on the base of the wooden sword grip.

I made this wood sword in about 5 hours, on a single day. And I did it because I'm a woodworking joinery nut. And I wanted to make a wooden sword for my son. Let's just say he really likes it.

He loves it by the way. There have been plenty of dragon slayings ad princesses saved in our back yard since he's included it in his arsenal.

Thanks for checking this out. I really hope you enjoyed it.

I'll see you on the next one!
