Probably most of you guys don't know Japan  is one of the places gets snow most in the world. The cold wind from north absorbs tons of moisture from the sea of Japan and it hits to mountains.
The pacific side, instead,  gets dry and cold wind from the mountains. This is one of the reason why Tokyo and Osaka are the big two cities in Japan.  At Elmendorf AFB in Alaska after a big snowfall, it was a hoot to watch half a dozen or more snowblowers in a wing formation clearing the runways...24 hour readiness you know.  I really want to have a go....and then I'm like oh! Are there houses under all that ...how do you know where any poles or sign posts Or does that get sucked  up and tossed over the hill too lol.
I lived where it snowed a fair amount, but nothing like some of these scenes. One of the best presents I've ever received was a snow thrower from my Mom. It had a Tecumseh 2 cycle engine, but it always started on the first pull, and it was so easy to clear our walk and driveway. The snow was always a dry powder, so the machine had no trouble making quick work of the task. The second best day was the day I sold it because we were moving to an area that did not receive snow.
I didn't like it when we lived in Ohio, USA where we might get a foot/30 cm of snow. That part of Japan would be too much for me. It looks like they have over 10 feet/3 m of snow. I live in Florida USA now and we never get ANY snow. Not even one flake! We have two seasons: a hot double length summer, and a mild fall - spring. We have two or three days when it gets below 40 F. That is about 4 or 5 C. What really got to me is that there were people out walking in that. It makes me shiver to think about it.
