It happened on the morning of April 5th. Thus, a ship with a loaded hull on the upper deck en route from Bremerhaven to Kolweid began to sway in the waves due to the load. After the boats moved, the ship tilted heavily. As a result, 8 out of 12 sailors were evacuated by helicopter. The four crew remained on board as they tried to salvage the ship. Around 04:00 UTC on April 6, the last four crew members had to abandon ship as it was too dangerous to stay on board. They jumped into the water and were rescued by a helicopter. As of 04:00 UTC on April 6, EEMSLIFT HENDRIKA was drifting south with AIS on.
