I have made four bamboo basket boxes for the cubby shelves in our breakfast bar. I made these wooden boxes look a little bit like baskets by cutting bamboo plywood in strips and regluing the strips back together again with the end grain of the bamboo showing on face. This technique produces a nice woven pattern. I also mitered the joints of the boxes to have this pattern wrap-around the corners of the boxes. I rounded over all of the edges of the boxes to give them the look and feel of a soft curvy basket.
