This video shows the traditional Japanese method of making wood round. This method is done using only traditional hand tools and is used by Miya-Daikus (Shrine Carpenters) when building/rebuilding traditional Japanese Shrines and Temples.

Japanese Hand Planes are known as "Kanna".
The Kannas used in this video is known as Hira Kanna (Flat Kanna) and Uchimaru Kanna (Concave Kanna).
