Making wooden folding chairs

I'm "home" back in England for 3 weeks visiting family so I'll be thinking making/designing rather than making dust and videos till I get back , so here's the last video for a month .
I had some left over pieces of oak, maple and mahogany and used them for this project.
I plan on making a matching folding table soon.
I had seen pictures of chairs that fold like this and took that concept and figured out this design myself.
you could make it out of a single peice of 3/4 plywood but I'm not sure of how strong that would be.
I used 7/8 thick stock and tried to keep enough wood to where it would retain some strength but also not be too bulky .
the only change I'm going to do is to run the seat part across the dado and add a spline for strength along the end grain ,while I'm sure the glue joint is ok I feel any added strength and stability can't hurt.
I made 4 chairs and wanted to make the chairs as compact as I could i really only need them for holidays and wanted them to fold away and not take up too much room when not in use.
they are actually pretty comfortable although I really only made them for "kids table" chairs.
as with most things I make I have a general idea then figure it out as I go ,I wasn't planning on using the bolt latches but then figured as these chairs are mostly for kids it would be better and safer to have it all lock together .
had I made them wider they would be sufficiant for most adults too ,they held my weight but I apparently have more junk in my trunk ....who knew !
please like and subscribe if you like what you see ,please check out my other videos ,and any comments or questions are welcomed
thank you for watching
