I'm amazed how little of this ship is below the waterline. Even for many people in today’s time, this ship is a wonder. I can only imagine how would a person from the past would feel about this giant. for those that dont know that huge phallic bulb on the front of the ship displaces water so there is less drag on the sides of the ship while cruising. ships that are simply pointed create big waves along the sides that the ship has to fight against. the big bulb is specially designed for each ship to cancel out the waves. Hard to believe that only two hundred years ago sailing vessels were still the primary means of commercial ocean going transport. Steam vessels didn’t really start coming into commercial service until after 1820. The progression of ship design is amazing.
The Symphony is the first 'ocean liner' built by Royal Caribbean in 40 years. The details in the desing compared to other Royal Caribbean vessels are of an ocean liner. Deep draft and resistant features and good speed for its size and comfortable. The last ocean liner built until 2022 when Cunard put in service the MS Queen Anne (provably will be launched by Princess Anne) and the RMS Titanic 2 and in 2024 will be launched the SS France (which I don't know how the new France has the title of Ocean Liner when the only characteristic it has is a deep draft.
