The rotor from a generator at Calloway Nuclear Plant was sent out for refurbishment. The total weight of the vehicle was in excess of 700,000 pounds. One truck pulling and one truck pushing. 108 tires on the ground. When it came to turn North on Hwy 19 in Montgomery County, they showed to ability to steer by turning every axle of the trailer to make the corner. It was quite a spectacle to watch.
And thanks to all of the ground people and engineers and anyone involved in the operation. Everyone seemed very professional in their job. Looks like it went down without a problem. So again, thanks to EVERYONE involved in getting the job done!!!!
Everybody comments on the trucks, drivers, tires... I'm even more impressed with the engineering that went into the trailer. Incredibly complex piece of equipment there!
Great work on a big move...nothing like seeing oversized transport go well through planning and execution...especially when it's you're talking those type of weights...nice work to all involved!!!!
Looks like the companies or company your filming have definitely got the right trucks to do all the heavy loads. I said in another video that ir you dont have a Pete, KW or a Western Star pulling these loads, thats your first major problem. Some people and by that I mean your Wal-Mart CDL drivers, would say "all trucks are the same they just have different engines and running gears". And thats their opinion. And if any of you "drivers" out there that think hey thats something I'd like to do. It takes a very high set skills to do that kinda hauling.
Watched a huge piece of machinery being off loaded in LA Harbor in the vicinity of 300 tons. They brought in what was named Herman the German, the famous heavy lift crane and they set it on the dock. They built a trailer dockside and moved it to Az someplace. There were two seats mounted on the rear for operators to control moving the axles so they could turn. I wanted to go with them, it was exciting especially for a kid (inside) like me that loves the "big stuff".
