Woodworking Extremely Dangerous || Giant Woodturning || Skills & Techniques Working With Giant Wood Lathe Of Carpenter

Unbelievable talent. Basic tools but the artwork is fabulous!! I am in awe!!  Their teamwork as well as creativity in getting it done is quite impressive considering there are no modern tools. They definitely have the common sense and imagination to improvise quite efficiently. It is clear that he has been creating for a long time and knows what he is doing. He loves what he does. This is true, skilled hand woodworking at its finest.  Great Job.  That small grinder towards the last part just struck a chord in my head like a visit to the dentist.
Had to silence it after that. He is very talented. And brave.
I wish we could have seen it stained to really get a look at the wood grain.  Just wondering if there's a machine where you program it to do this automatically  Hope there's a use for the sawdust. Thought I read somewhere where they feed animals it.  Wondering what would happens if the log jumps out of the lathe on a tool catch or because it has cracks and checks inside.
My guess is, running at that speed will probably run over that guy and the other and the ohter till it hits the shop wall and passes it trhough.  Looks fine to me. I mean, if the first 500 logs he lathed didn't fall off its probably good to go. Worst thing I could see happening is a bad wood rub burn or dust in your eyes.  To turn it more safely I would have turned it very slowly passed a sliding roughing bit in a router attached to an adjustable fence - at least until a perfect cylinder was formed.
